Impact Weather Today: Strong Storms in Central Florida Through 8pm
TAKE HER OUT, BUT I GOT TO DODGE SOME RAIN. SO LIKE, HOW AM I GOING TO DO ALL THIS? YOU GOT TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL TODAY AND PLANNING OUT WHEN YOU’RE GOING TO HEAD OUT FOR THOSE DOG WALKS, BECAUSE WE ARE EXPECTING SOME PRETTY GUSTY THUNDERSTORMS AS WE GO INTO THE AFTERNOON. WE’RE ALREADY SEEING, IN EFFECT, HERE’S A LIVE LOOK AT PORT CANAVERAL, COURTESY OF OUR FRIENDS AT RUSTY’S AT THE PORT, YOU CAN SEE THAT LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS THAT’S ABOUT TO MAKE ITS WAY OFFSHORE. SOON IN BREVARD COUNTY CAN ACTUALLY SEE THAT LEADING EDGE OF THUNDERSTORMS THERE A LITTLE. IT LOOKS LIKE A SHELF CLOUD STARTING TO DEVELOP THERE. HERE’S A LOOK AT OUR FIRST WARNING RADAR. LOTS OF ACTIVITY THIS AFTERNOON. LOOK AT THIS. MORE THAN 200 LIGHTNING STRIKES OR ROUGHLY 200 LIGHTNING STRIKES WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS IN FAR EASTERN SEMINOLE AS WELL AS ORANGE COUNTY. YOU CAN SEE THAT LINE STRETCHING FROM CHULLORA DOWN TO WEDGEFIELD. HERE, PRODUCING LOTS OF LIGHTNING. AND ALSO WINDS OF ABOUT 30MPH. SO JUST UNDER THE CUSP OF BEING STRONG. BUT WE’RE TRACKING THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS FROM PORT SAINT JOHN DOWN TO ROCKLEDGE. THIS WILL BE PUSHING EAST TOWARDS THE SPACE COAST VERY SOON. SO HEADS UP FOR CAPE CANAVERAL AND COCOA BEACH. YOU’LL BE GETTING ANOTHER LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, AND HERE’S A LIVE LOOK AT SATELLITE BEACH THIS AFTERNOON AND MELBOURNE. LOTS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THIS AREA, BUT THANKFULLY THE STRONGEST OF THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOW OFFSHORE. THERE. BUT AGAIN, WE’RE EXPECTING MORE RAIN ON THE WAY. HERE’S A CLOSER LOOK UP INTO FLAGLER COUNTY AS WELL AS VOLUSIA COUNTY. YOU’RE SEEING THAT VERY HEAVY RAIN IN PALM COAST DOWN TO FLAGLER BEACH. ALSO ORMOND BEACH, DAYTONA BEACH, GETTING IN SOME LIGHT RAIN THIS AFTERNOON SO SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE FROM WEST TO EAST. THEY’LL BE INTERACTING WITH THE EAST BREEZE THAT’S ESSENTIALLY PINNED AT THIS MOMENT, AND WE ARE GOING TO SEE MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AROUND 2 TO 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON. A COUPLE OF THOSE COULD BE ON THE GUSTY TO STRONG SIDE AND THEN OUTFLOW BOUNDARIES FROM THUNDERSTORMS UP TO OUR NORTH COULD CREATE MORE ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AROUND FIVE SIX, 7:00 TONIGHT. AND THEN AS WE GO INTO LATE THIS EVENING, YOU SEE AROUND NINE 10:00, THINGS DO START TO WIND ON DOWN. STORM IMPACTS FOR TODAY. HEAVY RAIN BECAUSE THESE ARE SLOW MOVERS DAMAGING WINDS ARE POSSIBLE. WE’RE EXPECTING LOTS OF LIGHTNING WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS AS WELL. TORNADO THREAT LOOKS TO BE LOW AND A HAIL THREAT LOOKS TO BE LOW. BUT I CAN’T RULE OUT AN ISOLATED FUNNEL CLOUD HERE AND THERE, SIMILAR TO WHAT WE SAW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN SEMINOLE COUNTY, AS WELL AS FLAGLER COUNTIES. TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW WHERE WE’RE SEEING THE RAIN, IT’S A RAIN COOLED 78. DAYTONA BEACH 75 IN ORLANDO, 86. RIGHT NOW, THOUGH, IN TITUSVILLE, AS WE LOOK AT THE REST OF THE DAY TODAY, WE’RE EXPECTING SOME WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS BY THE TIME WE GET TO LATE IN THE EVENING, THE STORMS GRADUALLY FADE AND THEN WE’RE EXPECTING A PRETTY WARM AND MUGGY START TO TOMORROW MORNING. SPEAKING OF THAT, WE’LL START WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE MID 70S. HIGHS TOMORROW. ONCE AGAIN ONLY CLIMBING INTO THE UPPER 80S. RAIN CHANCES ON THE HIGH SIDE. ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. RAIN COVERAGE TODAY 80% CHANCE. BUT LOOK AT AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 70% RAIN COVERAGE AND THAT DOES INCLUDE DAYTONA BEACH WHERE WE HAVE THE co*kE ZERO SUGAR 400. ON SATURDAY, WE’LL BE SEEING SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AROUND AT 3:00. RIGHT NOW, WE’RE EXPECTING THOSE STORMS TO FADE BY 730 WHEN THE RACE BEGINS. ACTIVE WEATHER HERE AT HOME, BUT THANKFULLY IN THE TROPICS, ALL IS QUIET. NO TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. IT’S LOOKING QUIET THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH, BUT THAT MAY BE CHANGING FOR SEPTEMBER, THOUGH. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR CENTRAL FLORIDA CERTIFIED MOST ACCURATE FORECAST. KEEP THE RAIN GEAR HANDY. YOU’RE GOING TO NEED IT OVER THE NEXT WEEK BECAUSE WE’RE REALLY NOT GOING TO GET A BREAK FROM
